Your first swap
Your first Quick swap, from a funded wallet to a transaction you can verify. Seven steps, with what to review at each one.
Before you begin
You need three things. None of them involves creating an account with opcode.
- A Solana wallet: Phantom, Solflare or Backpack, as a browser extension or the wallet's own in-app browser.
- USDC or SOL on Solana to trade with.
- A little SOL, around 0.01, for network fees and for the one-time rent of a new token account.
The seven steps
Open the terminal
Go to the terminal. The first time, you are shown five short disclosures about these tokens and trading with real funds. Read them and choose I understand and continue. Prices, charts and every market are visible straight away; you do not need a wallet to look.
Pick a market
Use the list on the left, or search by ticker or name. Start with a liquid name such as NVDAx or SPYx. The header above the chart shows the reference price and its 24-hour change. The status bar at the bottom shows the session the underlying market is in, and how long until that changes.
Enter what you want to pay
At the top of the ticket, choose Quick; on the ten markets marked OP the ticket opens on OPmode while the pool can quote. Leave Buy selected, choose USDC or SOL beside the amount, and type how much to pay under You pay. Request a quote to see the estimated output, minimum received and fee for that amount.
Connect and sign in
Choose Get quote. If you are not signed in, a dialog lists the wallets it found. Pick one and approve the message it shows you. The message reads: Sign in to Opcode. This request does not authorize a transaction or transfer any assets. That is all it does. Your session lasts seven days on this browser.
Confirm your country, once
The ticket shows a Trading acknowledgement: choose your country of residence, tick the acknowledgement and choose Save acknowledgement. You will not be asked again for this wallet unless the terms change.
Review the quote
Choose Get quote again. A review panel shows what you pay, the estimated output, minimum received, slippage tolerance (0.50%), the route's trading fee, opcode's platform fee (0%), and the estimated network fee and account rent. The output is an estimate; the minimum received is the limit to review. A quote is valid for at most 60 seconds; if it runs out, choose Refresh quote for the same order at current terms, or Edit order to change it. Nothing has moved yet.
Confirm in your wallet
Choose Sign and swap and review the transaction in your wallet before approving. Follow its saved status until it confirms or fails, then choose View transaction on Solscan. If the outcome is still unknown, choose Check status and wait for the result before requesting another quote.
What just happened
A successful Quick swap spends your chosen input and receives stock tokens, never fewer than the minimum received. Your saved order records the result and links to the Solana transaction, where you can check the amounts that actually moved.
Go deeperHow OPmode differs
On NVDAx, SPYx, QQQx, GLDx, TSLAx, AAPLx, MSFTx, METAx, COINx and CRCLx, marked OP, the ticket also offers OPmode: a firm quote from opcode's own pool with exact input, output, fee and an expiry of up to 10 seconds. You receive exactly what is shown, or nothing moves. Orders are limited to 100 USDC on NVDAx and 20 USDC on the other nine, and OPmode quotes only while a US market session is open, not at weekends or on exchange holidays. While the pool can quote, the ticket opens on OPmode on those markets; switch to Quick at the top of the ticket if you prefer the Jupiter route.
See Placing a swap for the different quote guarantees.
